Emily Carter’s research method

How Products Are Selected

How Emily Carter selects portable fridges and electric coolers through manuals, specifications, dimensions, cooling design, power data, retailer checks, and practical use-case comparisons.

The purpose of the research

FridgeRoute is written by one author, Emily Carter. The goal is to narrow a large product market into useful options for a specific vehicle, trip, cooling job, and power setup.

This is desk research and product selection. The products are not physically tested by the site, and published specifications are not presented as the author’s own measurements.

The four selection questions

  1. Cargo fit: Will the external dimensions, lid movement, ventilation needs, handles, cable routing, and securing points work in the intended vehicle?
  2. Cooling design: Does the product use the right cooling technology and zone layout for the temperatures the reader needs?
  3. Power use: Are the connection type, published energy data, and battery-protection features suitable for the planned power source?
  4. Verified specifications: Can the important model and variant details be traced to identifiable documentation?

Sources used

Research may use official manuals, manufacturer specification pages, model documentation, retailer listings, and other identifiable technical sources. Manufacturer performance statements remain manufacturer claims; they are not treated as independent proof.

Manuals and published specifications

Official manuals are preferred for operating instructions, electrical requirements, protection settings, temperature controls, and model-specific limitations. Published dimensions, weights, capacities, and energy figures remain sourced specifications unless clearly labeled otherwise.

Retailer listing checks

Retailer pages help confirm the exact model, variant, bundle, and current listing destination. They are useful for availability checks but can change or contain incomplete information. Before an affiliate link is published or updated, its destination should match the product discussed on the page.

Fit and dimensions

A headline capacity does not show whether a fridge fits a cargo area. Selection considers external width, depth, height, lid clearance, ventilation, handles, interior shape, and access to power. Readers should confirm final measurements in their own vehicle before buying.

Cooling technology

Compressor refrigerators and thermoelectric coolers are not interchangeable. Selection considers the cooling method, single-zone or dual-zone layout, temperature controls, ambient-condition limits, and the job the product needs to perform.

Power and runtime

Power comparisons use published consumption data together with stated assumptions about battery capacity, usable energy, connection losses, and operating conditions. Any runtime figure calculated by the site is an estimate, not a measured product result.

How shortlist decisions are made

A product is included because its documented characteristics appear relevant to a defined use case—not because a retailer link is available. Editorial judgment connects the sourced facts to practical needs such as cargo space, trip length, required temperatures, and available power.

Research limits and corrections

Documentation can be incomplete, specifications can conflict, and listings can change after publication. Those limits should be stated where relevant. Readers and manufacturers may report factual errors through the Contact page; updates follow the Editorial Policy and Corrections Policy.
